    History of the Club

The club was originally formed in the late 1940's but over the years membership fell off and with the loss of its clubroom the club eventually lay dormant for a number of years. Towards the end of 1980 the club under the original chairman, and a group of like minded enthusiasts, was reformed with the intention to recreate, in working "OO" model form, both the high and low levels, with surrounding trackwork, of the station at East Grinstead, as it was before Beeching.

When the layout was built it took up the entire space of the clubrooms. However, over the years it was altered and reduced in size to accommodate other projects. At the end of 1995, the club was of the opinion that the layout had come to the end of it's life and in 1996 was dismantled, many of the buildings having been preserved and regularly displayed at local exhibitions.

Currently the club has four layouts available for exhibitions and several new layouts are under construction. Watch these pages for further information.

For details of layouts go to the "Layouts Page".
